Prof.A.V.Satyanaraya Rao was formerly Professor& Dean of Faculty of Business Management in Osmania University (OU). He had over 36 years of very rich experience both as an Academician and an Academic Administrator in various capacities in Osmania University.

Born on 10th May 1943, he made the beginning of his career as Lecturer in the Dept of Public administration, Osmania University on 02nd Jan 1970. He was elevated as Reader in the same dept in the year1980. Later he attained the Professorship in the faculty of Business Mgmt O.U in the year 1985. He had 32 years long teaching experience for P.G. Students. His areas of specialization are Mgmt of Service Sectors & Public System, Health and Hospital Mgmt, Organization Behavior, HRM and Indian Systems of Mgmt.

He contributed his might to the Dept of Business Mgmt OU in various capacities. As the Chairman, Board of Studies in Business Mgmt during the years 1991-93 and as HOD during 1993-95.He was the Founder Chairman of the Advisory Committee of the Osmania Journal of Management which was released in Sept’1994. He was the Chief Warden of Hostels & Messes during 1982-86.He had been the Officer on Special Duty, in O/O the Vice Chancellor OU (1992-93). He retired as the Dean Faculty of Business Mgmt OU after heading faculty for four and half years.

Apart from these departmental activities he conducted 8 Mgmt Development Programs in Govt. for Direct Recruits& Senior Public Administrators of All India & Central Services during 1987-1992 sponsored by the Ministry of Personnel & Training Govt of India. Also he was the Director of two case studies projects sponsored by the same department from 1988-1993. These case studies were published in the form of a book by Himalaya Publishers and are used as training software in all training programs sponsored by DPT Govt of India.

He has organized several seminars and conferences, some of them being “The Conference on Mgmt of University Hostels in AP” hosted by OU in 1981,”Seminar on Teaching Hospitals in AP” in 1985. Seminar on “Mgmt of Medical and Health services in AP” sponsored by Govt of AP in 1985. Also he conducted several monthly seminars on social science problems at ICSSR Regional center as its Hon. Director (1998-2000).

He had 15 Research Publications in National and International Journals and 10 books on Research Publications to his credit.

He had been the Convener for two consecutive years 1998-99 for the state level MBACET on behalf of AP State Council of Higher Education (APSCHE).

Also he was the Founder Convener for ICET-2001(Integrated common entrance test for MBA/MCA conducted by APSCHE. He was also the convener ICET-2002.

Apart form his involvement in all these activities he guided 25 candidates so far to attain Doctoral Degrees. He is a recognized research supervisor of BITS Pilani and JNTU.

He has association with several professional bodies viz.. Indian Institute of Public Administration New Delhi, American Studies Research Center Hyderabad, Indian Association of Public Administration, Institute of Health Systems Hyderabad.

He has been the Director of this Institute since 1st June 2003 success ding Dr.E.Bhagiratha Rao formerly Director DRDL. In addition to his administrative responsibilities of this institute he inspires MBA students with his flair for teaching with subjects like Organization Behavior, Mgmt Theory & Techniques, HRM, Public Enterprises & Strategic Mgmt.
