Profile
THE Department of Management was started in MVSR Engineering College in
the academic year 1997-98 with a sanctioned intake of 30.AICTE approval was obtained in 1997. Subsequently the strength was INCREASED TO 60 in the year 2004, 90 in 2007, 120 in 2009 and 180 in 2010-11.
As MVSR EC was shifted in the year 2000 to a bigger campus at
Nadargul village leaving behind this department in the existing Saidabad campus. After
this relocation of Engineering disciplines the college was renamed as Matrusri Institute
of P.G. studies.
The department of MBA has well-furnished class rooms each equipped with OHP/LCD. There is
a computer lab equipped with 120 systems of latest configuration. A seminar hall a Audio
Visual Room and a Department Library that contains all prescribed and reference books,
individual chambers for its faculty members to make them accesses able to students are
some of the provisions of the department.
The strength of the department is that all the faculty members are working on regular
basis and that through appointed by the selection committee of Osmania University.
Admission procedure:
The candidate seeking admission in to MBA should have obtained a
graduation degree from any one of the recognized universities having studied Mathematics
as one of the subjects in SSC and having qualified in the integrated state level
integrated common entrance test (I-CET) conducted by an authorized university on be half
of Andhra Pradesh State Council of Higher Education (APSCHE).
The Convener of admissions APSCHE through statewide online counseling
allocates colleges to the students to pursue their MBA program depending on their rank
obtained in the common entrance test. In many colleges affiliated to Osmania University
MIPGS has emerged as preferred destination for students seeking admission in to MBA
course.
However the management reserves the right to offer admission to 36
candidates under management quota. The admission process under management quota is looked
after by the admission committee consisting of 4 members viz... The Hon. Chairman, the
Hon. Secretary, and the Hon. Treasurer of MES and the Director MIPGS.
Curriculum
With annual intake of 180 students with 3 Major specializations in
Finance, Marketing and HRM and 4 minor specializing in Finance, Marketing, HRM and Systems
the MBA Programme is divided into 4 semesters strictly in accordance with the syllabus and
norms prescribed by OU. After second semester the students undergo summer training to gain
practical insights of various aspects of organizations.
Project work
Each candidate should do a project work as part of MBA Programme. It
should be carried out in any of the specializations at any Govt organization/ public
sector undertaking or any private organization with five years of standing and recognized
by the University. This project work should be carried out under supervision of a guide
who is having a continuous service of not less then 3 years in a University or a college
where the course is being offered or an organization recognized by University. The project
work submitted by a candidate is evaluated by an external examiner appointed by the
University.
Learning Methodology
- Interactive Sessions:
In MIPGS Faculty members encourage interactive sessions with students
and conduct the proceedings of the class with the emphasis on student orientation.
- Visiting Professors:
At present MIPGS has 3 visiting Professors for MBA Programme. They share
their rich experiences and practices with the students.
- Guest Lectures:
Eminent professionals from various Industries and Academic Intuitions
are invited to address the students on the latest technologies and Mgmt practices in the
industry.
- Personality Development Sessions:
As part of the co-curricular activities Personality Development Sessions
are conducted where in JAM sessions, Group Discussions, Debates, Individual and Group
Presentations and other Mgmt games to enhance Communication and Interpersonal skills.
- Industrial visits:
Students are taken to various industry locations to bridge the gap
between classroom theory and on floor job practices.
- Srujana - Spurs creativity:
Srujana is a tri monthly in-house magazine, which is published by the
students of MIPGS. The objective of Srujana is to enhance the writing and creative skills
among the students.
- Sreshta:
Sreshta - Heading towards excellence is an Alumni meet where all the
Ex-students of MIPGS share their real time/on the job experiences with the current
students of MIPGS. The objective of Sreshta is to establish Industry Academic relationship
and develop networking among current batch students and previous batches students.
- Udbhav:
A platform for Industry- Institute Interface where students of MIPGS
give paper presentations in front of the representatives of the industry. The industry
experts evaluate the presentations and give suggestions to students to enhance their
skills.
Training & Placements:
The Training & Placement team of MIPGS conducts attitude developing
exercises right from the beginning of the curriculum through career orientation program
sessions the schedule of which is incorporated in the regular class work. It helps
students in Resume preparation, conduct GD/ PI sessions regularly to enhance the skills of
the students in this area.
