Profile

MCA department was started by MVSR Engineering College, in 1994 affiliated to Osmania University with a sanctioned intake of 30.AICTE approval was obtained in 1997. Subsequently the strength was INCREASED TO 60 in the year 2000, 120 in 2007 and 180 in 2010-11.

In 1996-97 MVSR Engineering College was shifted to Nadergul village to a bigger campus leaving behind the PG courses in the existing Saidabad campus.

There after an application was filed by the management for change of name. As a result it is renamed as MATRUSRI INSTITUTE of P.G. Studies which was approved by AICTE and Osmania University.

Admission procedure:

The candidate seeking admission in to MCA should have obtained a graduation degree from any one of the recognized universities having studied Mathematics as one of the subjects either in his intermediate or in graduation and having qualified in the integrated state level integrated common entrance test (I-CET) conducted by an authorized university on be half of Andhra Pradesh State Council of Higher Education (APSCHE).

The Convener of admissions APSCHE through statewide online counseling allocates 84 students to MIPGS to pursue their MCA program depending on their preference & rank obtained in the common entrance test. In many colleges affiliated to Osmania University MIPGS has emerged as preferred destination for students seeking admission in to MCA course.

However the management reserves the right to offer admission to 36 candidates under management quota. The admission process under management quota is looked after by the admission committee consisting of 4 members viz... The Hon. Chairman, the Hon. Secretary, and the Hon. Treasurer of MES and the Director MIPGS.

Curriculum

With annual intake of 60 students. The MCA Programme is spread over six semesters with real time project work included in the six semesters. Well equipped computer laboratories with latest software and high configuration. Sessional Marks: In MCA there is a continuous evaluation of student performance through internal assessments twice in every subject in each semester. Each Sessional exam will have maximum of 20 marks and students are required to attempt 4 out of 6 questions. Either aggregate / better of the two internals conducted is awarded as marks obtained by the students and this information are forwarded to OU along with the percentage of attendance procured at the end of the semester.

Project work

Each candidate should do a project work as part of MCA Programme. It should be carried out in any of the specializations at any Govt organization/ public sector undertaking or any private organization with five years of standing and recognized by the University. This project work should be carried out under supervision of a guide who is having a continuous service of not less then 3 years in a University or a college where the course is being offered or an organization recognized by University.

The project work submitted by a candidate is evaluated by an external examiner appointed by the University..

Learning Methodology

- Interactive Sessions:

In MIPGS Faculty members encourage interactive sessions with students and conduct the proceedings of the class with the emphasis on student orientation.

- Practical Sessions

the department of MCA has three computer Laboratories for its students equipped with 180 systems of latest configuration and loaded with legal software to meet the requirements of all students. Moreover all the laboratories are networked with LAN. Also there is an exclusive computer center of 30 systems with internet facility. Students can surf on the net even beyond college hours with prior permission from the Faculty.

In MIPGS Faculty members encourage interactive sessions with students and conduct the proceedings of the class with the emphasis on student orientation.

- Visiting Professors:

At present MIPGS has 3 visiting Professors for MCA Programme. They motivate students with their rich experiences and practices.

- Guest Lectures:

Eminent professionals from various industries and intuitions are invited to address the students on the latest technologies in the industry.

- Personality Development Sessions:

As part of the co-curricular activities personality development sessions are conducted where in JAM sessions Group Discussions, Debates, Individual and Group Presentations and other Mgmt games to enhance communication and interpersonal skills.

- TRISHNA - Thirst for Excellence:

Annual State level two day IT meet cum software exhibition wherein technical papers and seminars on latest technologies are presented by professionals from Industry and Academic circles. MCA & B.Tech (CSE) & IT Students from various colleges all over the state participate in the software exhibition. Several events conducted for the participants and prizes will be awarded in the valedictory session. Most popular event of Trishna is Mock-interviews conducted for selected participants by HR and Technical managers of top-notch software companies. Most interesting session being Face to Face program wherein the vice-presidents and HR managers of different software companies answer the queries of the students about latest trends of recruitments in the industry. The objective of Trishna is to set a platform for Industry Institute interface.

- SPOORTHY:

An annual MCA -Alumni Meet conducted on 26th January every year where Ex-students of MIPGS share their real time/on the job experiences with the current students of MIPGS. The objective of Spoorthy is to establish Industry Academic relationship and develop networking among current batch students and previous batches students.

Training & Placements:

The Training & Placement team of MIPGS conducts attitude developing exercises right from the beginning of the curriculum through career orientation program sessions the schedule of which is incorporated in the regular class work. It helps students in Resume preparation, conduct GD/ PI sessions regularly to enhance the skills of the students in this area.

Some of the esteemed organizations offering placements to our students are:
WIPRO, SATYAM, CMC, CTS, VARTUSA, KANBAY, CARRITOR, SYNTEL INC.., JATAYU SOFT, and SEMANTIC SPACE.
